Promoting a longstanding commitment to a safe workplace, UCA President visits Washington D.C. to promote essential role of forklifts and forklift safety in business.
MARENGO, Ill. – June 2017 – Following another productive year in advocating forklift operation safety, UniCarriers Americas (UCA) proudly participated in the fourth annual National Forklift Safety Day.
Among the many highlights this year, UCA once again reinforced its 24/7 commitments to the safe use of lift trucks with free operator training and recertification courses at its two factory-owned dealerships, Capital Equipment and Handling, Hartland, WI, and New England Industrial Truck, Woburn, MA. The training courses included topics such as lift truck basics, pre-operation inspections, load handling, and fueling procedures. In addition, UCA offered special deals on safety equipment, including pedestrian spotlights, back-up alarms, and fire extinguishers.
To honor the event on a national level, past National Forklift Safety Day Chairman and UCA President James J. Radous III visited Washington D.C. to meet with legislators, discussing the overall impact of the lift truck industry and UCA’s efforts to support forklift safety, educating employees, and retaining employees as automation increases. Several senators expressed interest in visiting UCA’s Marengo, IL headquarters.
“From the design and reliable operation of our forklifts to the training and education of our employees, we strive to be leaders in the industry,” says Radous. “Our focus, and that of our dealers, is to provide UniCarriers customers with the skills, knowledge, and equipment to keep the workplace safe.”
The 2017 event marks the fourth year of National Forklift Safety Day. Established by the Industrial Truck Association, its influence continues to grow, reaching an estimated audience of 60 million and driving home the importance of workplace safety throughout the material handling industry.
